The watch straps are made of real natural leather which makes the straps feel very soft. The watch straps for the Mondaine watches are delivered in multiple colours. The design of the Mondaine watches comes from the designer Martin Drechsel who, as a tribute to his industrial background, has chosen to make the watch cases of matte stainless steel.
Because Mondaine uses a special unique movement in its watches, there are no less than two motors needed, while a conventional Quartz watch contains only one motor that controls the hour, minute and second hands. The reason that the Mondaine ladies and men's watches have two motors in the movement is because the second hand moves 4 steps per second, making it seem as if the second hand is moving in one go. The hour and minute hands are operated by the other motor. This system is called the Mondaine SBB stop2go movement, which is characteristic for the station clocks in Switzerland and therefore also in the men's and ladies' watches of the watch brand. Because of the higher power consumption of the two motors, a special lithium battery was added, which has a service life of no less than three years. So no compromises have been made here either. On the special technique with the seconds hand, an additional function has been added so that the seconds hand in the movement stops for 2 seconds at the top and then continues again without the watch being out of time.
